Meet Dr. Michelle Couto

Being an orthodontist enables me to watch how someone's self-confidence grows. As their smile develops and their external appearance changes, the effect that has internally on their self esteem is beyond words. Being able to provide this gift to a patient is the most important aspect of my profession and makes being an orthodontist worthwhile!

Education and Continuing Education

For my orthodontic education, I first attained my DMD from Nova Southeastern University before graduating from Loma Linda University with my MS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

As with most professions, orthodontics is always changing and evolving with new methods and technologies. In order to provide my patients with high quality services, I always strive to keep abreast of the latest proven orthodontic procedures. As a part of my continuing education, I regularly attend the Invisalign Summit, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics and American/Canadian Association of Orthodontics Conventions. I am also an active member of the Northwest Dental Study Club.

In the Office

I truly enjoy the patient interactions I experience every day, as well as the puzzles and challenges involved with unraveling a malocclusion. Of course, my favorite part of my job is watching my patients as they develop a greater sense of self-esteem with their developing smile. I help to provide patients with a gift for life that will enable them to have that fabulous smile for a great first impression!

Our office is fun and modern. My team and I strive every day to provide an excellent patient experience and wonderful customer service. We want you to feel at home here, and want your orthodontic visits to be comfortable and positive!

The best dental advice I love to give my patients are to wear retainers and Invisalign aligners!

Family and Community

I grew up in Kitimat, British Columbia, and love living in Coquitlam! My husband, Jeffrey, and I enjoy traveling together when we can. I also enjoy recreational fitness, and used to be a figure skater! I love to cook, and am addicted to ice cream.

I think it is very important to help those in need. That is why I am involved with the run for a cure to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. For the past six years, I have also helped raise funds for the Children's Hospital.
